# Know Your Label (KYL)

## What the app does

- AI food scanning: take or upload a photo to analyze ingredients and nutrition.
- Personalized checks: highlight possible allergy and diet conflicts.
- Clear results: explain food scores, concerns, and the evidence read from the photo.
- Ask the AI: ask follow-up questions about an analyzed product.
- Photo guidance: check lighting, blur, and glare; explain when a label needs another photo.
- Scan history: browse, search, save, and delete previous scans.
- Allergy and diet profiles: choose existing profiles or describe custom needs with AI assistance.
- Account access: sign in with Google or email.
- Notifications: optional beta announcements, early-feature updates, and local reminders.

## Platform and downloads

Android only for now. No iOS version is announced on the official page.
The page checks the public GitHub release list and selects the newest published release by publication date, including prereleases. Its download CTA downloads the universal APK from that release. Version names and download sizes change; consult the releases page for current information.

## Currently being developed

Faster background update downloads, saved APK reuse, and download/install/delete controls. These are development plans, not claims of shipped functionality.

## Limitations

The app assists with label reading; a photo cannot confirm that food is allergy-safe. Results explain the evidence read from the photo and possible conflicts, not a guarantee of food safety.
